Baands helps people keep track of their money without the chore: capture a transaction from a screenshot, get a budget suggested, and ask questions about spending in plain language.
What I built
- The mobile app, in Expo and React Native: sign-up and onboarding, accounts across currencies, transactions, budgets, a calendar of upcoming payments, and the AI chat.
- The backend, in NestJS with PostgreSQL: the data model, every API the app uses, sessions across devices, and background jobs with Redis and BullMQ.
Decisions worth mentioning
- AI features sit behind service interfaces. The app ships with stand-in implementations, and the ML team can plug in real models without touching controllers or the app.
- Passwords are hashed with Argon2, and each device gets its own session that can be signed out on its own.
